Our Team

Justin T. Dix

As a naturally curious individual, Justin developed interest in mechanics at a young age by taking things apart to understand how they worked. This ranged from VCRs, to string trimmers, motorcycles, and ultimately small engines. In 1990 Justin found what he thought was the coolest things, the Cox 0.049 cubic inch engine. It was used to power control line aircraft and ran on methanol fuel. Not only was Justin fascinated by the workings of the small engine but he became even more intrigued by the idea of model aviation. Since this hobby could be pricey, Justin started cutting lawns to fund his model aviation hobby. At this point in life, Justin felt that full scale aviation was out of reach until he could develop skills and sufficient income to participate.

From 1990 - 2006 Justin continued to hone his mechanical skills and diversify his background by studying auto mechanics, and working as an automotive technician as he began the part-time study of mechanical engineering. In 2007 Justin was recruited to the Zenith Fuel Systems company in Bristol, VA. He assumed the role of Applications Engineer where he would perform testing, and field evaluation of industrial engines and fuel systems. Living only a mile from the KVJI, Justin was able to start taking lessons toward his private pilot certificate. Ten hours into his training, his mind was made up to purchase an airplane. In March of 2008 Justin purchased a 1975 Cessna 150M which took him through his private (06/2008) and commercial (07/2010) pilot ratings.

Justin continued advancing his experience in aviation and to date has over 4000 flight hours, has personally owned over 30 aircraft, holds A&P, IA and Flight Instructor ratings in single engine airplane, multi engine airplane, and rotorcraft.

Justin enjoys being immersed in aviation by assisting his friends and customers to achieve their goals in aviation.
